We are an inner ear biology laboratory dedicated to researching and developing therapies for mammalian hearing loss. The Chen lab uses an interdisciplinary combination of functional genomics and regeneration studies to recover multiple types of hearing loss including hereditary deafness, age-related, ototoxic, and noise-induced trauma.

We are part of the Eaton-Peabody Laboratories, the world’s largest research center dedicated to the study of hearing and deafness. The Chen lab is physically located in the historic Beacon Hill region as part of Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, adjacent to Massachusetts General Hospital. As part of Harvard Medical School, our researchers are members of the Otolaryngology department’s predoctoral and postdoctoral programs.
